The clothes of the wooden sculpture of the Virgin Mary, belong to the second half of the seventeenth century, of Italian manufacture.

The work to be restored is therefore presented in three parts:

The dress of the Virgin; the mantle; the dress of baby Jesus

All garments were made at the same time with the same materials, arrived in a fair state of preservation

Disassembling

Partial disassembly of the artwork

Suction

Suction and elimination of particulate deposits on the front and back of all tissues through an aspiration with micro-aspirator at controlled speed and protective filter nets

Cleaning

Cleaning by soft rubber with high absorbency

Stability testing

Dye stability and fibre resistance test for washing

Washing

Water wash on low pressure table with the help of soft brushes and natural sponges.

Consolidation

Use of specific technical points depending on the degradation, and application of micro protective net in the areas of greatest gaps
