Intervention of conservationist restoration of a double sided processional standard from the nineteenth century in embroidered and painted silk satin fabric. The subjects: Our Lady of the Holy Rosary; Saint Giacomo Maggiore and Saint Rosa da Lima
The work, by an unknown author and probably already restored in the past, was in a precarious state of preservation.
For this reason the restoration work took place in a timely manner, since in such conditions it was no longer usable for its ancient functions
Restoration phases:
Disassembly of the banner from the package and division of the two sides
Elimination of particle deposition by speed controlled micro-suction and protective filter net
The works were sprayed with cold water vapor to restore hydration to the fibers
Consolidation at technical points sewing by hand in degraded areas with cuts, gaps and
lacerations
Pictorial retouches by watercolor in correspondence of abrasions and gaps
