Intervention of conservationist restoration of a double sided processional standard from the VIII century of italian manufacture.
On the cream side there is the Madonna of the Rosary with the Child Jesus, while on the other side you can see a scene of Eucharistic Adoration.
The work was in a good state of preservation, however the deformation of the background fabrics and the precariousness of the satin in the painted areas have pushed towards a conservative restoration campaign.
Restoration phases:
Disassembly of the banner from the package and division of the two sides
Suction at controlled speed and elimination of particle deposit on front and back of all tissues by means of protective filter nets.
Cleaning with sponges and cotton balls with neutral Ph solution of the base fabrics, embroidery, fringes and tassels
Consolidation of the base fabric and the metallic yarns by means of technical stitches, and application of protective micro-net with wide cells in the most degraded areas.
Pictorial retouching of paintings in areas of degradation and in the main areas of shadow of the images
