Intervention of conservationist restoration of a processional standard in embroidered and painted silk.
The work dating back to the middle of 1700 by an unknown author, was previously restored during the twentieth century, bringing the figure of Our Lady of the Rosary with the Child on a new canvas
The restoration was carried out in a timely manner, with the aim of extending the life of the materials as much as possible and at the same time restoring a better visual integrity to the work.
Restoration phases:
Removing the banner from the frame by removing the nails, and removing the perimeter seams by using special tweezers
Suction and elimination of particulate deposit with speed controlled micro-suction and protective filter nets
General cleaning of the entire product from surface deposits by dusting with soft brushes
Repair of the metallic yarns with silk and organzine yarns, and repositioning of the effigy always through stitching
