Intervention of conservationist restoration of a french gothic stole from the late nineteenth century, in yellow – gold silk with decorations in metallic yards
There are cuts, wear and lifting of the metal yarns, and many are the abrasions of the embroidery that leave a glimpse of the yellow silk soul. There are also coarse patches and lacks of decorative studs and sequins.
Restoration phases:
Surface dust removal by indirect suction with graduated speed suction machine and protective filter nets.
Cleaning of metal yarns with rubber and use of cold water vapor to moisture the fibers.
Partial disassembly of packaging
Consolidation with decorations in metal yarn untied from the background fabric.
Application of protective micro net with large cells in the most degraded areas
