02 Oct The chasuble. Interpretations – Lecce
From October 4th to November 2nd 2020 the magnificent Basilica of Santa Croce in Lecce will host Atelier Sirio’s temporary exhibition The chasuble. Interpretations. The opening will take place on Sunday 4th with Emanuela and Giovanna Rotelli.
On Wednesday 14th and Thursday 25th Massimiliano Sartirani of Atelier Sirio will be present.
Renaissance, modernism and contemporary inspired chasubles will be placed in the lateral aisles of the church. Hieronymus Bosch, Gustav Klimt, Piet Mondrian and Mark Rothko are some of the names Atelier Sirio’s got inspired by in order to design new liturgical vestments, that aim to come across the classic catholic symbology to search for a timeless and aniconic spirituality. Stylistic research goes by a technical research: embroideries and interweaving leave room for painting, printing and patchworking.
The event will take place at the Basilica of Santa Croce (via Umberto I 1, 73100 – Lecce) from Sunday 4th October to Monday 2nd November 2020. The exhibition will be open everyday (sun-mon) from 9 am to 9 pm.
The event is organized under the patronage of Lecce’s archdiocese and with collaboration of Rotelli Arte Sacra and PortaLecce.
