Conservationist restoration of a roman chasuble and its stole fromMilan of the late nineteenth century in crimson silk satin.
There are cuts, wear and lifting of the metal yarns, along with many abrasions of the embroidery that make visible the yellow silk soul.
Restoration phases:
Partial disassembly of the package
Surface dust removal by indirect suction with graduated speed suction machine and protective filter nets.
Cleaning with sponges and cotton balls with neutral Ph solution of the background fabrics and embroidery
Embroidery to consolidate abrasions and wear in areas with greater degradation of the background fabric and metal yarns
